NEW ORLEANS – New Orleans Musical Legends Park will celebrate what would have been Al Hirt’s 94th birthday on Sunday, Nov. 6, at New Orleans Musical Legends Park, 311 Bourbon St., from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
The celebration honors not only Hirt’s birthday, but also the presentation of the inaugural New Orleans Musical Legends Recognition Award to his wife, Beverly Hirt.
Al Hirt was honored as one of the first New Orleans musical legends recognized in the park.
The celebration will include the Cafe Beignet Orchestra playing all of Al Hirt’s music as remembrance of the New Orleans musical legend.
The event is free and open to the public.
New Orleans Musical Legends Park has started a membership program where the public can donate $50 per month to become a “Friend of New Orleans Musical Legends Park.” The monies support the park’s efforts to continue to celebrate New Orleans' musical legends. As a “Friend of the Park” members will be the first to know about exclusive NOML events.
New Orleans Music Legends, Inc. is a nonprofit entity committed to celebrating and honoring New Orleans’ unique musical heritage. The Bourbon Street park acts as a viable venue to feature live music in the French Quarter and a contributor to New Orleans’ cultural renaissance.
