New Orleans Mission To Host ‘Changing The Face Of Homelessness’ Gala

NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Mission is hosting its fourth annual “Changing the Face of Homelessness” gala featuring motivational remarks from Ron Hall – author of The New York Times best-selling novel and now Paramount Pictures movie “Same Kind of Different as Me” – and live entertainment from nationally-acclaimed musician Jonny Diaz.

The gala takes place Friday, Dec. 8, at the Hyatt Regency New Orleans, 601 Loyola Ave., from 6:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.

The New Orleans Mission’s annual gala drives awareness for the plight of homelessness in New Orleans. All gala proceeds will benefit the New Orleans Mission and their multiple programs that serve individuals in need across the Greater New Orleans region.

Other gala event highlights will include a live auction, raffle, three-course dinner and a special presentation from New Orleans Mission staff and disciples about the life-changing initiatives underway at the Mission, including the recent facility renovations.

By sharing people’s powerful life stories with others in an impactful way, the New Orleans Mission strives to change public perception about the homeless community, helping all see that homeless individuals have struggles, hopes, dreams and families just like anyone else. The Mission brings hope and life transformation to those who need it most by sharing the good news of the Gospel and providing homeless individuals with opportunities to get their lives back on track through job training and discipleships, reps said.

Established in 1989, the New Orleans Mission is a private 501(C)(3) nonprofit organization created as a service provider for a growing population of homeless men living in New Orleans. Today, it is the largest faith based private service provider among 60 shelters catering to the homeless population of New Orleans. The New Orleans Mission overnight shelter capacity has grown from 80 to 215, including 32 women. In Fall 2015, the Mission opened its Giving Hope Retreat in Lacombe, Louisiana. This Northshore facility offers 72 beds for those participating in the Mission’s one-year discipleship program.
