Wednesday, Feb. 17 – Vice President Joe Biden visits New Orleans to participate in events commemorating the 7th anniversary of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, at Port Administration Bldg. Plaza, Port of New Orleans, 1350 Port of New Orleans Pl., New Orleans, 11:15 a.m. The $787 billion 'Recovery Act' was designed to create up to 3.5 million new jobs through investment in infrastructure, help for the unemployed, aid to cash-strapped states, subsidies to help the newly-unemployed afford their health care, improved energy efficiency of federal buildings, and tax credits for business investment in plants and equipment.

Louisiana Governor Bel Edwards will join Vice President Biden to discuss the TIGER program – the Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery (TIGER) Discretionary Grant program in the region. New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu and Department of Transportation and Development Secretary Shawn Wilson also also attend the event.
