Monday, Jan. 11 – Jury selection expected to begin in trial of Trung Le, charged with manslaughter and second-degree murder in a June 29, 2014, shooting spree on Bourbon Street in New Orleans. One person – 21-year-old Brittany Thomas – died in the incident, while nine others were hurt. Nobody else has been arrested in the case, but attorneys for Le have said he fired in self-defense to save himself and others from another, still-unidentified, gunman. Case no. 521564
