Monday, Aug. 15 – Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards participates in Unified Command Group (UCG) briefing on the flooding impacting Louisiana, 7667 Independence Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA, 9:00 a.m., before visits to flood-damaged areas at Lafayette Parish Emergency Preparedness, 800 S. Buchanan St., Lafayette, 12:00 p.m.; Abbeville Airport, 262 Jimmy C. Vorhoff Jr., Dr., Abbeville, LA, 1:15 p.m.; and 1404 Hangar Dr., New Iberia, LA, 2:15 p.m. Rescue efforts are continuing in the state of Louisiana after heavy rainfall caused major flooding, with Gov. Bel Edwards declaring a state of emergency Friday. Four people are believed to have been killed in the storm, with over 20,000 rescued from their homes. The neighboring states of Alabama and Mississippi are also experiencing severe weather, with several rivers overflowing.
