NEW ORLEANS – For the present fiscal year (2015-2016), the New Orleans Council on Aging’s supplemental funding for the last quarter has been restored, reps said.
New Orleans Council on Aging Executive Director, Mr. Howard L. Rodgers, III as well as the senior citizens of New Orleans expressed gratitude to Louisiana state lawmakers, Governor’s John Bell’s staff, GOEA administrators, the New Orleans city council, and the City administration for working tirelessly to restore fourth quarter payments which support the operation of local senior centers.
“I want to thank all of those lawmakers from the New Orleans state delegation, the New Orleans city council, and the city administration for ensuring that our seniors can continue to receive daily meals and in- home assistance,” Rodgers said.
It is still unclear if future cuts are slated, given the status of the Governor’s Office of Elderly Affairs 2016-2017 budget effective July 1, 2016.
