NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Convention & Visitors Bureau (NOCVB), New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center (MCCNO) and Meeting Professionals International (MPI) Gulf States Chapter, are joining to celebrate one of New Orleans’ top industries during Global Meetings Industry Day (GMID) on April 12.
Join Roger Dow, President & CEO of U.S. Travel Association (USTA), the premier advocacy organization for the travel industry, in a panel discussion with local industry leaders, including Stephen Perry, President and CEO of the NOCVB, and Michael Sawaya, President and General Manager of MCCNO, led by Mark Romig, President and CEO of the New Orleans Tourism Marketing Corporation (NOTMC). The panel will discuss growing industry trends, the future of travel, misconceptions about meetings and the importance of the Meetings Mean Business coalition. All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Louis “Satchmo” Armstrong Summer Jazz Camp.
On this day of advocacy, industry leaders will be gathering at events around the world to celebrate the impact that meetings and events have on businesses, economies and communities. The meetings industry in the United States is a significant economic driver supporting 5.9 million jobs and hundreds of billions of dollars in annual revenue.
