NEW ORLEANS – On Thursday, Oct. 13, Susan Currie, principal of New Orleans-based Susan Currie Design, was one of over 90 entrepreneurs to graduate from the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program at Delgado Community College. The ceremony brings the total number of graduates in the Greater New Orleans region to over 500. More than 7,100 business owners have benefitted from the program nationally.
Business owners who took part in the program this year represent a wide variety of industries, including construction, manufacturing, food service, retail and transportation. Together, these businesses employ more than 1,500 people and represent over $98.8 million in revenues. Participants received practical business and management training, business support services, and access to capital to help their businesses grow.
Currie, Allied ASID, CAPS, a sought-after Southeastern designer, She has lived and worked in the Southeast and Southwest, and currently splits her time between New Orleans, where the people, architecture, and food serve as inspiration for her designs, and Atlanta, where she previously served as Director for the Georgia Chapter of the ASID. She is a Certified Aging in Place Specialist and is a graduate of the 2016 Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program in New Orleans.
Color is an important component of Currie’s designs and the use of bold, vibrant color is one of her firm’s trademarks. Listening to her clients to find out what colors influence them and incorporating these colors make each of her designs truly unique, company reps said. Her focus is on creating interiors that are personal, suited to each client, and one of a kind. Learning what’s important to her clients is key to creating the most personalized design possible, company reps said.
“I design with each client’s best interests at heart,” Currie said.
