NEW ORLEANS – On May 15, the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY) celebrated the opening of its new military lounge. Located in a pre-security space on level three of the terminal, the lounge provides accommodations for active-duty military members and their families at no charge.
“It was important for us to create this space for our active-duty service members so they can be comfortable during their travels,” said the Hon. Michael Bagneris, chair of the New Orleans Aviation Board, at a grand opening celebration. “Our nation’s military members make so many sacrifices for our country, and we hope this new amenity can help make their journeys a bit easier.”
Amenities include complimentary snacks, seating, charging stations and TVs. It is staffed by volunteers and open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.
“We are so proud to offer this new amenity to the brave men and women of our nation’s military who put their lives on the line to keep us safe,” said Kevin Dolliole, director of aviation for MSY. “Special thanks to our volunteers and staff who worked so hard to get this space up and running. I know it will be truly valued by our military community.”
