NEW ORLEANS – Einstein Charter Schools will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Einstein Charter Middle at Sarah Towles Reed Campus on Friday, August 14, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at 5316 Michoud Blvd., in New Orleans.
Opening for this 2015-16 school year, the stand-alone new middle school will occupy the former site of Sarah T. Reed High School. The school will host grades 6-8 and take on an additional 375 students on the lower floor.
Einstein Charter Middle joins the recently opened Einstein Charter School at Sherwood Forest, and both are replications of Einstein’s original Village De L’Est campus, the first open-admissions elementary charter school in the East.
Einstein operates the only top performing, tuition free, open admissions, “B” rated PK-8 schools serving New Orleans East.
For the 2016-17 school year, Einstein will expand to open Einstein Charter High School, a new high school on the upper floors of the Sarah Towles Reed Campus.
The ribbon cutting celebration of the founding of the school will include food and entertainment by Einstein’s student jazz band.
Authorized by the Orleans Parish School Board, Einstein Charter Schools operates a group of consistently high-performing, open admissions schools in New Orleans East. Einstein Charter Schools recently received the 2015 COSEBOC School Award for Excellence and Leadership in Educating Boys of Color. Einstein Charter Schools has been repeatedly recognized by the Louisiana Department of Education as a “Top Gains” school and “High Performing, High Poverty School” and by the Orleans Parish School Board as a “Top Performing” school. Einstein is expanding to the former Sarah Towles Reed Campus with 500 additional students and a new independent middle and high school. Einstein Charter Schools has one of the most diverse student bodies in the city and the largest English Language Learner populations, with 35 percent of its students in an ELL program.
