NEW ORLEANS – LCMC Health has named Gregory A. Nielsen CEO of East Jefferson General Hospital. He assumed responsibility as interim CEO of EJGH in early 2023 and was appointed permanent CEO of the hospital this month.
The announcement comes on the heels of the EJGH partnership with Tulane University. EJGH is now the clinical home for Tulane School of Medicine and has expanded specialty care services, advanced treatment and academic medicine.
Nielsen comes to EJGH from the LCMC Health system, where he held the chief operating officer position. Previously, he served as regional vice president at American Physician Partners, leading several hospitals in Tennessee with increasing responsibility and scope. Prior to that role, Nielsen was a division president for Regional Care Hospital Partners, an 18-hospital system that is now part of LifePoint Health.
As CEO of EJGH, Nielsen will be responsible for overseeing the hospital’s operations, leading the development of strategic initiatives including and ensuring the delivery of high-quality care.

A fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, Nielsen served as divisional president of RCCH HealthCare Partners and CEO for CMH Regional Health System, Great Plains Health, Holy Rosary Healthcare, Weston County Health Services of Regional Health, and Mountainview Medical Center.

Nielsen earned his master’s degree in healthcare administration from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities and his bachelor’s degree from Concordia College.
Established in 2009, LCMC Health is a Louisiana-based, nonprofit hospital system serving the Gulf South. The system currently manages Children’s Hospital New Orleans, East Jefferson General Hospital, Lakeside Hospital, Lakeview Hospital, New Orleans East Hospital, Touro, University Medical Center New Orleans, and West Jefferson Medical Center.
