METAIRIE, LA – The New Orleans chapter of the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) will hold its October meeting tonight, Monday, Oct. 23, at Porter & Luke's, 1517 Metairie Rd., at 5:30 p.m.
The Urban League of Louisiana's Women's Business Resource Center and Contractor's Resource Center will present “At the Helm: Women Entrepreneurs Setting the Bar in Leadership and Growth in the Construction Industry,” with a panel of women in construction who are changing the game and excelling in their respective fields, organizers said.
During this panel, hear from women entrepreneurs about leveraging strategic relationships, defying industry norms, leadership and scaling their businesses for long-term success.

• Kristi Mirambell, president, K-Belle Consultants
• Danah Malone, president, Malone Electrical Services
• Panel Moderator: Klassi Duncan, director, Urban League of Louisiana's Women's Business Resource Center and Contractor's Resource Center

NAWIC, an international nonprofit organization, has grown to a membership of 5,500 women with more than 160 chapters. In its 54 years of service to its members, NAWIC has advanced the causes of all women in construction whose careers range from business ownership to the skilled trades, reps said. With almost 1,119,000 women working in construction today, the industry is more accepting of their non-traditional roles, they said.
