NEW ORLEANS – Since her passing on January 29, 2014, the Morris Jeff Community School community has mourned the loss of a teacher Jerry Powell Foxworth.
School reps said Foxworth loved to inspire young, inquiring minds and was a mentor to her colleagues. Named “Teacher of the Year” twice, her passion and influence were undeniable, reps said.
Remembered as a “kind and graceful educator, calm in disposition yet unwavering in her conviction to educate and mentor,” the MJCS community, in her memory, is christening the pre-kindergarten and kindergarten hallway of Morris Jeff Community School the Jerry P. Foxworth Memorial Early Childhood Wing, today, Friday, June 10, 2016, at the Morris Jeff Community School, 211 S. Lopez, at 8:00 a.m.
