MONROE, LA (AP) — Monroe Mayor Jamie Mayo is proposing a $59.1 million city budget for the coming year.
It's slightly larger than the current year's budget of $58.9 million.
The News-Star’s Kaleb Causey reports that the spending plan for the coming year is balanced. Mayo presented it to the City Council this past week. He is required to submit it more than three months before the beginning of fiscal 2016 so council members can review it.
The biggest proposed expenses are for the fire department, police department and department of administration.
