NEW ORLEANS — Renowned New Orleans Jewelry designer Mignon Faget is handing the reins of her namesake company to sculptor and designer Maghan Oroszi, who has been on Faget’s team since 2010.
For more than 50 years, Faget’s designs have been collected and worn by generations of women in her hometown and around the world. In 1969, she opened her first shop in a Riverbend cottage. Nearly three decades later, the booming company moved to its new corporate headquarters at 4300 Magazine Street. Last year, the brand completed a $1 million renovation of its Lakeside Shopping Center location. There are also retail locations at 3801 Magazine and at the Mall of Louisiana in Baton Rouge.
“I have learned the company from the bottom up, working in every department, and under Mignon’s guidance,” said Oroszi, the new Mignon Faget CEO, in a press release. “This was always a design-first business. Not only am I able to maintain that structure, I am also able to apply my experience in production and logistics for future strategies, efficiencies and growth.”
After studying Architecture at Tulane University and the Rhode Island School of Design, Oroszi spent a decade creating sculptures out of precious metals, steel, bronze, aluminum, glass, wood and concrete. She transitioned to freelance jewelry design before joining Faget’s team. CEO is the fifth position that Oroszi has held in her 13-year tenure at the design house.
“Mignon and I both believe that good design comes from exploration,” said Oroszi. “I also believe that a successful business requires exploration not only to persevere through changing times, but also to grow. I am tasked with not only preserving Mignon’s legacy but to also execute her vision of the future, which is to grow the business to a nationally recognized brand.”
