METAIRIE, LA (AP) — A parade organization in suburban New Orleans has decided against parading this Carnival season.
The Krewe of Atlas announced its decision Thursday.
Atlas has traditionally paraded in Metairie. But this is the second year it has not taken part.
Danny Murray of Atlas said the krewe does not have the resources needed to put on a high-quality parade. He says the krewe may try to roll again in the coming years.
Atlas, which had been slated to roll on Feb. 8, is one of Jefferson Parish's oldest Carnival krewes.
