Mercedes-Benz Superdome Goes Blue For NOPD Officers

NEW ORLEANS – To honor NOPD officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty and to thank current NOPD officers who are serving the New Orleans community, the Mercedes-Benz Superdome will light up in all blue during the evenings from Sunday, May 15, through Thursday, May 19.

The recognition coincides with National Police Week, which is meant to honor law enforcement officers from across the country that paid the ultimate price.

“Being a police officer is not just a career, it’s a calling and a commitment to protect and serve others without fear for your own safety,” said NOPD Superintendent Michael Harrison. “I want to thank the Mercedes-Benz Superdome and SMG for publicly honoring officers who we’ve lost and recognizing the officers who are taking that risk right now every day.”
