McDonogh 35’s Crier Receives New Orleans Excellence In Teaching Award For 51 Years Of Service

NEW ORLEANS – In honor of National Teacher Appreciation Day, New Schools for New Orleans (NSNO) Co-CEO’s Michael Stone and Maggie Runyan-Shefa will join McDonogh 35 Senior High School students, faculty and staff to honor educator Sylvia Crier with the second annual New Orleans Excellence in Teaching Award today, Tuesday, May 3, 2016, at McDonogh 35 Senior High School, 4000 Cadillac St., at 9:45 a.m.

         The award will be given to Crier at a surprise award presentation.

         Crier has dedicated the past 51 years of her life to educating the children of New Orleans.

         NSNO will honor more than seven educators at various schools with Excellence in Teaching awards today.

         Launched in 2015, the New Orleans Excellence in Teaching Awards recognizes the incredible educators throughout New Orleans, whose contributions rarely make headlines, but whose impact will endure long after the students they serve leave their classrooms.
