NEW ORLEANS —Today, New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu will meet with President-elect Donald Trump in New York, NY.
Mayor Landrieu was invited to the meeting in his role as Vice President of the United States Conference of Mayors (USCM).
City Hall press reps said Mayor Landrieu intends to discuss how investments in public safety and infrastructure in cities can make America's cities, and therefore the rest of our country, stronger. He will talk about how New Orleans is a model for how investments in infrastructure, healthcare and education have made his city stronger following Hurricane Katrina. As was discussed throughout the presidential campaign, Mayor Landrieu will also discuss how cities are important, diverse and dynamic centers of American life and the backbone of the nation’s economy — home to nearly two out of every three Americans, 96 percent of jobs, most Fortune 500 companies, small businesses, innovative entrepreneurs, professional sports teams, cultural institutions, and the world’s best colleges and universities.

Mayor Landrieu said, “As go America’s cities, so goes the nation. Every day, people of every color, faith and origin wake up in an American city and go to work or school, attend a place of worship, volunteer with a nonprofit organization and take care of their families and loved ones. Our cities are a source of American pride. America’s mayors have offered detailed solutions for delivering jobs and prosperity for our cities — investing in infrastructure and advanced manufacturing, reforming the criminal justice system and providing support and training for law enforcement to secure America. I look forward to discussing these matters and more with the President-elect.”
