Mayor Landrieu To Launch ‘Build NOLA’ Training Program For Small And Disadvantaged Businesses

NEW ORLEANS – Today, Mayor Landrieu will launch "Build NOLA", a training program to prepare local small and disadvantaged businesses to compete for large-scale public and private contracts. The program will expand the city’s pool of competitive and qualified bidders, and maximize contracting opportunities for Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBE).

         Mayor Landrieu will launch the initiative at Delgado Community College— City Park Campus, H. Giles Martin Hall (Building 6), 615 City Park Ave. at 2:00 p.m. Scheduled to be in attendance are: Dr. Joan Davis, Chancellor, Delgado Community College, Ashleigh Gardere, Senior Adviser, Economic Opportunity, Four Seasons New Orleans, Orleans Legislative Delegation, New Orleans City Council and Build NOLA Cohort I.

         From 2010 through 2014, DBE firms were awarded over $400 million in business opportunities with the City of New Orleans, New Orleans Aviation Board, Sewerage and Water Board, and the Regional Transit Authority. Build NOLA will prepare local small and disadvantaged businesses for sustainable growth measured by increased business revenues, new contracting opportunities and job creation.
