Mayor Landrieu To Join U.S. Conference Of Mayors At Democratic National Convention

NEW ORLEANS – Today, Mayor Mitch Landrieu will accompany leaders from the U.S. Conference of Mayors (USCM) during the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia. Mayor Landrieu is the USCM Vice President and he will be joined at the convention by USCM 2nd Vice President Columbia (SC) Mayor Steve Benjamin, USCM Immediate Past President Baltimore (MD) Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake and Tom Cochran, USCM CEO & Executive Director.

City officials said on Tuesday, July 26, 2016, at the Sheraton Downtown Philadelphia, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Mayor Landrieu will attend a USCM-sponsored luncheon and a press conference to highlight the Mayors’ Compact for a Better America: A Call to Action, which calls on the Presidential candidates to recognize the critical role cities play in shaping America’s future and to focus on policy issues important to people living in cities and their metropolitan areas.

On the heels of the tragic events involving gun violence in three American cities, Mayors will stress the importance of investing and protecting cities and their metropolitan areas, City officials said.
