Mayor Landrieu To Announce Summer Youth Recreation And Job Opportunities

NEW ORLEANS – Today, Mayor Landrieu will join City officials to announce recreation and job opportunities available to New Orleans youth this summer at the Stallings St. Claude Recreation Center, 4300 St. Claude Ave., in New Orleans, at 10:00 a.m.

         Opportunities will be available citywide through the New Orleans Recreation Development Commission (NORDC) and NOLA Youth Works, the Mayor’s Summer Youth Employment Program. Additionally, the the City and its partner, Share Our Strength, will announce plans to provide free meals to youth this summer.

         Those scheduled to attend include Mayor Landrieu, Vic Richard, CEO, New Orleans Recreation Development Commission (NORDC), Byron C. Williams, NORDC Chair, Ashleigh Gardere, Senior Advisor to the Mayor for Economic Opportunity, Sheila Burns, Chairman of Workforce Investment Board, Rhonda Jackson, Director of No Kid Hungry New Orleans, Jennifer Williamson, Senior VP, Corporate Communications, Sodexo North America and City officials.
