Mayor Landrieu, NOLA FOR LIFE Hosting "Orange Is The New Black" Author Kerman

NEW ORLEANS – Today, Mayor Mitch Landrieu and NOLA FOR LIFE will present “A Conversation on Criminal Justice Reform,” featuring Piper Kerman, author of the book “Orange is the New Black: My Year in a Women’s Prison,” at the Ashe Cultural Arts Center, 1742 Oretha Castle Haley Blvd., at 6:45 p.m.

Kerman’s experiences serving over a year in prison inspired her to write “Orange is the New Black: My Year in a Women’s Prison,” now adapted into the award-winning Netflix series “Orange is the New Black.” Kerman is a frequent invited speaker on the subject of criminal justice reform. She has spoken at the White House, many colleges and universities and has testified before a U.S. Senate subcommittee on the matter.
