Mayor Landrieu Kicks Off 2017 Carnival Season At Kings Day Celebration

NEW ORLEANS — Today, Mayor Mitch Landrieu and city officials joined representatives from Carnival organizations to celebrate Kings Day, which marks the official start of the 2017 Carnival season.

         Carnival season begins on Jan. 6 each year and culminates on Mardi Gras Day, which in 2017 is Tuesday, Feb. 28.

         The celebration, held at Mardi Gras World, 1380 Port Of New Orleans Place, at 10:00 a.m., included presentations from Carnival organizations and a ceremonial cutting of king cakes.
