Mayor Landrieu, Federal, State Health Officials Prepare For Citywide Day of Enrollment

NEW ORLEANS – Today, Mayor Mitch Landrieu will join Deputy Assistant Secretary J. Nadine Gracia of the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services and Office of Minority Health, Secretary Rebekah E. Gee, M.D., M.P.H. of the Louisiana Department of Health & Hospitals, Dr. Takeisha Davis, CEO of New Orleans East Hospital and other local officials at the East New Orleans Library, 5641 Read Blvd., at 3:00 p.m., to encourage residents to enroll in health coverage through the Affordable Care Act Health Insurance Marketplace (the Marketplace) before the 2016 deadline.

On Saturday, January 16, 2016, the city will host the Citywide Day of Enrollment where residents will have the opportunity to attend enrollment events at convenient sites throughout the city and get help from trained Marketplace enrollment assisters to shop around for the best healthcare plan to meet their needs. In December, Mayor Landrieu announced that the City of New Orleans accepted the White House’s Healthy Communities Challenge as part of a national effort to promote enrollment in insurance through the Marketplace.
