Mayor Landrieu, City Officials To Outline Preparedness Activities In The Event Of A Zika Virus Outbreak

NEW ORLEANS — Today, Mayor Mitch Landrieu will join local health officials to outline the City of New Orleans’ preparedness in the event of an outbreak of the Zika virus, which is spread to people through mosquito bites. At this time, there are no locally transmitted cases of the Zika virus in New Orleans or Louisiana; however, travel-related cases of Zika virus have been identified in Louisiana.

         The event will take place at New Orleans’ City Hall, in the Mayor’s Press Room, 1300 Perdido St., at 2:00 p.m.

         Those scheduled to attend include Mayor Landrieu, Charlotte Parent, New Orleans Health Department, Claudia Riegal, New Orleans Mosquito, Termite and Rodent Control Board, Cynthia Sylvain-Lear, New Orleans Department of Sanitation  and City Councilmembers.
