Mayor Landrieu Celebrates Barbershop And Beauty Salon Healthcare Enrollment Challenge Winner

NEW ORLEANS —Today, Mayor Mitch Landrieu will celebrate the winner of the Mayor’s Barbershop and Beauty Salon Healthcare Enrollment Challenge at Case Closed Barbershop, 5941 Bullard Ave., #5, in New Orleans, at 2:00 p.m.

The challenge was a part of a citywide effort to promote enrollment in health insurance through the Affordable Care Act Health Insurance Marketplace during the open enrollment period that ended on Jan. 31.

Mayor Landrieu challenged barbers and hairstylists across the city to talk with their customers about health insurance and help connect them to free, in-person enrollment assistance. The barbershop or hair salon that referred the most people to enrollment assisters would receive a visit from Mayor Landrieu. Case Closed Barbershop in New Orleans East won first place out of 22 other businesses that participated in the challenge.
