NEW ORLEANS – On Friday, September 16, 2016, Mayor Mitch Landrieu announced his appointments to several City of New Orleans boards and commissions.
City Planning Commission
The New Orleans City Planning Commission makes recommendations to the New Orleans City Council regarding the Master Plan, amendments, map changes, planned developments, amendments to the Comprehensive Zoning Code and Subdivision Regulations. The Commission may approve, modify or deny applications.
• Eugene Green, Jr. was appointed to the City Planning Commission. Mr. Green is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Nationwide Real Estate Corporation.
• Jonathan B. Stewart was appointed to the City Planning Commission. Mr. Stewart is the President and Chief Executive of Jonathan B. Stewart Insurance Agency.
Delgado Albania Plantation Commission
The Delgado Albania Plantation Commission provides for the administration, operation and maintenance of the Delgado Albania Plantation; has authority, with the approval of the City Council, to borrow money to produce crops, and mortgage and pledge as security thereof, the crops and chattels of said plantation; and transmits annually to the Board of City Trusts for the account of the Delgado Community College and its successor such portion of the income of the plantation as may be fixed by the City Council.
• Edward Levert, Jr. was reappointed to the Delgado Albania Plantation Commission. Mr. Levert is an employee of the Gray Insurance Company.
Downtown Development District
The Downtown Development District provides for the orderly planning, development, acquisition, construction and effectuation of the services, improvements and facilities within the District.
• Judy Barrasso was reappointed to the Downtown Development District Board of Commissioners. Ms. Barrasso is a founding member of the law firm Barrasso, Usdin, Kupperman Freeman & Sarver.
• Gary Blossman was appointed to the Downtown Development District Board of Commissioners. Mr. Blossman is the President and CEO of First Bank and Trust.
• Tod Chambers was reappointed to the Downtown Development District Board of Commissioners. Mr. Chambers is the General Manager of The Roosevelt New Orleans.
• Michelle Craig was appointed to the Downtown Development District Board of Commissioners. Ms. Craig is the co-founder of Transcendent Legal.
• Carla Major was reappointed to the Downtown Development District Board of Commissioners. Ms. Major is Assistant Vice Chancellor of Human Resources and Professional Development at Delgado Community College.
• Cleveland Spears III was appointed to the Downtown Development District Board of Commissioners. Mr. Spears is the founder of Spears Group, a public relations consulting firm.
• Allison Berger Tiller was reappointed to the Downtown Development District Board of Commissioners. Ms. Tiller is a Principal at the Berger Company.
Economic Development Advisory Committee
The Economic Development Advisory Committee advises and assists the Mayor by making recommendations for appropriations from the economic development fund.
• Kelisha Garrett was appointed to the Economic Development Advisory Committee. Ms. Garrett is a member of the New Orleans Regional Black Chamber of Commerce.
• David Page was appointed to the Economic Development Advisory Committee. Mr. Page is the Vice President of Enrollment Management at Dillard University.
• Jean-Guy Celestin was appointed to the Economic Development Advisory Committee. Mr. Celestin is the Senior Vice President for First NBC Bank.
Ernest N. Morial New Orleans Exhibition Hall Authority
The Ernest N. Morial New Orleans Exhibition Hall Authority is a political subdivision of the state of Louisiana. The Authority was created in 1978 by the Louisiana Legislature for the purpose of constructing and operating convention facilities in New Orleans. The Authority is made up of a board of Commissioners that oversees the New Orleans Public Facility Management Inc., a not-for-profit organization that runs and operates the Convention Center. The Authority's mission is to spur economic development by hosting tradeshows and conventions that attract out-of-state visitors to the area.
• Dottie Belletto was reappointed to the Ernest N. Morial New Orleans Exhibition Hall Authority Board of Commissioners. Ms. Belletto is the President and CEO of the New Orleans Convention Company.
Human Relations Commission Advisory Committee
The Human Relations Commission Advisory Committee strives to eliminate and prevent discrimination in employment, in places of public accommodation, resort or amusement, in housing accommodations and in commercial space because of race, creed, national origin or ancestry, color, religion, gender or sex, sexual orientation, gender identification, marital status, age, physical condition or disability whenever such discrimination is prohibited by city law.
• Tammy Barney was reappointed to the Human Relations Commission Advisory Committee. Ms. Barney is the Director of Public Relations at Southern University of New Orleans.
• Laura Fine was appointed to the Human Relations Commission Advisory Committee. Ms. Fine is an attorney at Lehmann Norman & Marcus, and she serves as the Board Chair of Project Lazarus.
• Joseph Halm was reappointed to the Human Relations Commission Advisory Committee. Mr. Halm is a Marketing and Communications Coordinator at the Tulane University School of Social Work.
• James V. King III was appointed to the Human Relations Commission Advisory Committee. Mr. King is an attorney at Quinn Alsterberg, and serves on the board of the ACLU of Louisiana.
• Lang Le was appointed to the Human Relations Commission Advisory Committee. Ms. Le is a Program Director at Vietnamese Initiatives in Economic Training (VIET).
• Meredith Reed was reappointed to the Human Relations Commission Advisory Committee. Ms. Reed is the Vice President for Student Engagement and Advising at the University of Holy Cross.
• Julie Thibodaux was reappointed to the Human Relations Commission Advisory Committee. Ms. Thibodaux is a Resource Development Manager at the United Way of Southeast Louisiana.
• Christopher Wiseman was reappointed to the Human Relations Commission Advisory Committee. Mr. Wiseman is the Vice President for Institutional Advancement at Loyola University.
New Orleans Redevelopment Authority
The New Orleans Redevelopment Authority works with public and private partners to redevelop and revitalize New Orleans neighborhoods.
• Rita Maria Reed was reappointed to the New Orleans Redevelopment Authority Board of Commissioners. Ms. Reed is the President of FFC Capital Management.
• Benjamin Bradley Tiller was reappointed to the New Orleans Redevelopment Authority Board of Commissioners. Mr. Tiller is a Principal at the Berger Company.
• Robert Tucker, Jr. was reappointed to the New Orleans Redevelopment Authority Board of Commissioners. Mr. Tucker is the CEO of Green Pastures Unlimited.
New Orleans Public Belt Railroad Commission
The New Orleans Public Belt Railroad Commission operates the New Orleans Public Belt Railroad.
• Emily Arata was appointed to the New Orleans Public Belt Railroad Commission. Mrs. Arata is the Director of Economic Development Initiatives for the Ochsner Health System and was formerly the City’s Deputy Mayor for External Affairs.
Total Community Action
Total Community Action’s mission is to reduce poverty in our community by providing human services, experiences, and opportunities that move persons from poverty to self-sufficiency.
• Wesley Bishop was appointed to the Total Community Action Board of Directors. Mr. Bishop serves as the State Senator for Louisiana Senate District 4.
