A CMA CGM container is unloaded from a barge at the Port of New Orleans Nashville Avenue Wharf as part of the container-on-barge shuttle service launched by SEACOR AMH earlier this year. U.S. Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx designated the new service between the Port of New Orleans and the Port of Greater Baton Rouge as an official Marine Highway Project in April. The shuttle service enhances the multi-modal options available via the Port of New Orleans and helps reduce air emissions and road maintenance costs. Top chemical shippers have been utilizing the container-on-barge service to transport cargo from Baton Rouge-area plants to the Port of New Orleans.
