NEW ORLEANS – The City of New Orleans issued a traffic advisory for the upcoming closure of Magazine Street between Second Street and Fourth Street to permanently restore the roadway after the Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans performed emergency sewer and water line repair work last week.
Beginning Thursday, March 5, 2015, and lasting through Friday, March 6, 2015, the east and west bound travel lanes on the 2500 and 2600 blocks of Magazine Street will be fully closed to vehicular traffic between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Additionally, river bound traffic on Third Street will not be able to cross over Magazine Street.
On Thursday, crews will make full depth repairs to the base portion of roadway affected by the water and sewer work. On Friday, crews will mill the asphalt from the entire intersection at Third Street, plus an additional sixty feet from curb to curb down Magazine Street towards downtown, and will install a new layer of asphalt throughout this entire section.
Residents should exercise caution when driving, bicycling, or walking near active construction sites.
