Mae’s Bakeshop Opens Jan. 27 on Baronne Street

NEW ORLEANS – Mae’s Bakeshop will open with a limited menu on Jan. 27 at 3917 Baronne Street.

The bakery is led by Jeremy Fogg, who was the pastry chef at Emeril Lagasse’s flagship restaurant for six years. He’s also known for his pop-up bake shop and for his recent stint at MaMou. He has appeared on Food Network shows, including winning work on “Chopped Sweets” and “Beat Bobby Flay.”

“We are taking the attention to detail and technique French pastries are known for and applying it to American classics,” said Fogg in a press release. “We are so excited to join this great block and to be neighbors with Zee’s Pizza and Lucy Boone Ice Cream. Both concepts started like us, as pop-ups.”

Mae’s opening menu will feature flavored biscuits, cinnamon rolls, muffins, cookies, pies, cakes, and monkey bread king cake. After a grand opening in February, the menu will expand to include toasts, breakfast pies, sandwiches, drip coffee and cold brew.

The 1,500-square-foot bakery, formerly occupied by Beth Biundo Sweets, will offer counter service as well as limited seating for breakfast and lunch. In addition, Mae’s provides breads and pastries for MaMou, Parish Line Bistro, the Furlough Four and Mawi Tortillas.

Fogg named his new venture after his mother and great-grandmother, who shared the middle name Mae. He said recipes for sour cream pound cake and banana cookies, among others, are family heirlooms.
