NEW ORLEANS – Lugenbuhl, Wheaton, Peck, Rankin & Hubbard shareholder Rose LeBreton will speak at the New Orleans Commercial Real Estate Women’s upcoming luncheon to be held Wednesday, March 16, 2016. at Metairie Country Club.
LeBreton will serve as the speaker for New Orleans CREW’s annual View from the Top series, which spotlights local members who have achieved great success in their careers and serve as a model for their peers. As a past president of the New Orleans CREW chapter, LeBreton is a longstanding and active member of the organization.
With chapters around the country, CREW seeks to advance the success of women in commercial real estate by achieving parity in opportunity, influence and power in the industry.
Focusing on commercial real estate development and land title, LeBreton is currently the lead counsel for land use and development issues for the re-development of the corner of Loyola Avenue and Poydras Street. This location is the gateway to the New Orleans sports and entertainment district, including the Mercedes-Benz Superdome and the Smoothie King Center. The new six-story building will be the New Orleans home of Dave and Buster's, with retail shopping and parking.
At present, LeBreton’s real estate group is also guiding the renovation and re-development of the historic Maison Hospitaliere property, occupying more than half of a square in the heart of the French Quarter, into luxury condominiums.
LeBreton also serves as counsel to the Deepwater Horizon Trust, with responsibility to lead the Wetlands Review Team in determining ownership of the Louisiana wetlands area damaged by the BP Oil Spill.
Her practice areas focus on all aspects of real estate development, including sales, acquisition, leases, and land use, as well as title insurance law and defense.
Lugenbuhl reps said LeBreton has particular depth in the resolution of complex title issues, which includes curing the title on 43,500 acres for the largest landowner in St. Tammany Parish, and the oversight of the resolution of hundreds of title insurance claims for national title insurance underwriters.
With special expertise in riverfront and historic title, LeBreton has been the “legal architect” for the development of Tulane University’s riverfront properties. Development of this project requires in-depth knowledge of riverfront title and regulatory issues, and involves working closely with the Port of New Orleans, the New Orleans Convention Center, and the City of New Orleans on behalf of the client. Lugenbuhl reps said LeBreton was instrumental in negotiating the major lease of the premises.
LeBreton has also used her experience to craft the land use rights, conditions and restrictions necessary to unite ten individually-owned properties in the French Quarter into one working hotel complex, and to develop multiple sites through lease or acquisition for a national bank in Louisiana and Texas. At Lugenbuhl, she leads the real estate group and founded LAWLA Title, LLC, an in-house title agency providing commercial closing services.
LeBreton’s work in both the law and the community was recognized in 2009, when she was selected as a New Orleans CityBusiness Women of the Year honoree and her practice was highlighted as a feature article in the Best Lawyers edition of New Orleans Magazine in November 2011. She is also Martindale-Hubbell AV-rated and listed for Real Estate in Super Lawyers and Chambers and Partners. She was an honoree in New Orleans’ CityBusiness Women of the Year awards and noted as a top lawyer in real estate in New Orleans Magazine.
