NEW ORLEANS – Lugenbuhl, Wheaton, Peck, Rankin & Hubbard has hired Kaja Elmer as an associate for the insurance practice section. Located at the firm’s New Orleans headquarters, her primary areas of practice include general liability coverage, oil & gas liability coverage and environmental & toxic tort insurance coverage.
Prior to joining Lugenbuhl, Elmer served as a pro se staff attorney with the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana before gaining experience in bankruptcy and civil litigation as an associate attorney for a Metairie law firm. She is a certified Louisiana notary and a member of the New Orleans Bar Association, Jefferson Bar Association, Federal Bar Association and Louisiana State Bar Association.
Elmer earned a bachelor’s degree in political science and journalism with summa cum laude honors from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, N.J. She received her juris doctor from Seton Hall University School of Law in Newark, N.J., with a full merit scholarship and cum laude honors. While in law school, Elmer served as senior editor of the Seton Hall Law Review, was an active member of the Civil Rights & Constitutional Litigation Clinic and studied abroad in both Brazil and Zanzibar.
She is admitted to practice law in the state courts of New York, New Jersey and Louisiana.
