LUBA Workers’ Comp Names Michiels as Claims Manager

Baton Rouge – LUBA Workers’ Comp has named Russell Michiels manager of their claims department. In his new role as claims manager, Michiels will oversee all claims operations and medical bill reviews, ensure compliance with state and federal insurance regulations and assist with securing the company’s catastrophic reinsurance coverage.

Michiels has been with LUBA since 2007 and has over 27 years of experience in the insurance industry.  He began at the company as a senior claims supervisor and was then promoted to assistant claims manager, a position he has held since 2010.

“Our claims division is the largest department in the company and our claims service is where LUBA sets itself apart. Superior customer service, compassion and attention to detail are vital during the claims handling process,” said Mike DePaul, chief operating officer at LUBA. “Russell shares this philosophy and takes his work, and his staff’s work, very seriously. His in-depth knowledge and extensive experience make him a great fit for the position.”
