NEW ORLEANS – It was a lucky day for one charmed crawfish at the first ever Zatarain’s Crawfish Pardoning event.
Today, Tuesday, March 7, Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser granted one blessed crustacean, “Emile,” a reprieve from future backyard boils at the Louisiana State Museum Old U.S. Mint, 400 Esplanade Ave.
To officially kick off crawfish season, Zatarain’s “Pardoning of the Crawfish” hosted Nungesser who issued an official proclamation and formally pardoned the crawfish.
Mayor Sherbin Collette of Henderson, Louisiana; Claude Davis, Zatarain’s principal scientist; representatives of the Louisiana Seafood Board and representatives of the Dept. of Wildlife & Fisheries were also in attendance at this morning’s festivities.
