BATON ROUGE – As a state, Louisiana produces more than 850 million pounds of seafood each year and is the second largest seafood producer and largest commercial fishery in the contiguous U.S.
Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser will be leading local media today, Tuesday, October 18, 2016, on a tour across the state to celebrate the product that comes straight from Louisiana’s shores.
On Avery Island, Lt. Gov. Nungesser will report on the State of the Seafood Industry.
Lt. Gov. Nungesser will be joined by members of the Louisiana Seafood Marketing and Promotion Board; Mayor Sherbin Collette of Henderson; Thomas Hymel of SeaGrant; John Tesvich, Owner and Chair of the Louisiana Oyster Task Force; Paul Corne, General Manager of Bayou Barataria Foods; and other local legislators and elected officials from 7:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
