LSU Leader: Daily Reveille Print Days Should Be Trimmed

BATON ROUGE (AP) — The LSU director of student media says the print edition of The Daily Reveille, the student newspaper, should be trimmed from its current five days per week.

The Advocate’s Will Sentell reports Steve Buttry says continuing the status quo simply is not responsible or acceptable.

In a message sent to members of LSU's Manship School of Mass Communications and alumni, Buttry said he favors limiting the paper's print edition to two days per week, which he said would save $30,000 for the spring and fall semesters.

Printing costs about $108,000 per year, and the paper is subsidized by student fees.

In his message, Buttry said ad sales for The Daily Reveille have fallen four consecutive years, and in 2015 revenue was less than half what it was three years earlier.
