Loyola To Offer Master Of Arts In Teaching Degree

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Loyola University New Orleans is now offering a Master of Arts in Teaching degree.

         Teachers who have not yet attained certification, professionals looking for a new career and recent college graduates who have not yet completed a teacher certification program are eligible to enroll.

         The university has designed the 36-hour program so that individuals can get certification at the secondary level (grades 6-12) and earn a graduate degree at the same time. It's designed to accommodate working professional and about 30 to 40 percent of courses will be online.

         One online course for the new program will start this fall. The remainder of classes should be in full effect by spring.

         Individuals currently teaching at the secondary level may use their own classrooms as their site for course-related activities.
