NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Loyola University in New Orleans has announced the introduction of a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Information Systems.
The university said Monday that the new program will be offered beginning this fall.
Ralph Tucci, professor of mathematics and director of computational science at Loyola, says the program is designed to appeal to students who want to go into business.
Loyola's College of Humanities and Natural Sciences currently offers a major in Computational Mathematics and a Computational Science minor. Those programs emphasize mathematics and are more theoretical in nature.
The university says the new major will add more practical knowledge and is more career-oriented.
