Skilling up? Looking for your Plan B? Loyola University New Orleans has been approved by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc. to provide a new financial planning education certificate program. Loyola will be the only institution of higher education in New Orleans to offer financial planning certification.
“The pandemic has allowed a lot of people time to reflect and think about the future,” said Michelle Reinhardt, director of professional and continuing studies at Loyola. “Many are making decisions to change careers, boost their résumés or learn new skills with an eye toward starting a business. The Certified Financial Planning Certificate program at Loyola is a great way to further your knowledge, prepare for the CFP exam and develop critical skill sets that will last throughout your professional lifetime.”
The Certified Financial Planning Program at Loyola is a seven-month blended program, taught both on-campus and online by Dalton Education faculty. Classes meet two evenings a week, online or in person and includes individual coaching for the CFP after the review readiness and exam readiness quizzes, pre-study materials, review course, supplemental review lectures and questions.
Coursework will cover Fundamentals of Financial Planning, Insurance Planning, Financial Calculator Essentials, Estate Planning, Income Tax Planning, Investment Planning: Concepts and Strategies, 1st Edition (Money Education) and Retirement Planning and Employee Benefits.
Students who enroll in the program through the Office of Professional and Continuing Studies will meet Tuesday and Thursdays from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., from Sept. 15, 2020 to April 29, 2021.
Students completing the financial planning program at Loyola will have met the Education requirement for CFP Certification Examination administered by CFP Board. They will receive a certificate from Loyola and be eligible to sit for the national CFP Certification Exam in July 2021.
