LAPLACE, La. – Louisiana’s River Parishes Tourist Commission has announced the appointment of Denise Burrell as executive director. She has served as deputy director of operations at the organization since February 2019.
“I am honored to have this opportunity to serve the River Parishes,” said Burrell. “Our rich culture and distinctive way of life deserve to be celebrated. It is with great pride that I get to lead and organize the voices telling the stories of our unique region.”
Burrell is a lifelong resident of the region and an alumna of East St. John High School and Southern University and A&M College.
“Denise brings a wealth of personal and leadership experience in the hospitality and tourism industries,” said Elizabeth Joseph, chairwoman of RPTC. “That, coupled with her roots in the River Parishes area, made her the clear choice for the position of executive director.”
