Facts and Statistics on Louisiana’s Hispanic Community

In 2023, HCCL led one of the first trade missions coordinated by a chamber of commerce to Central America, promoting Hispanic business across Louisiana and Honduras, and connecting them with corporations from both countries.

The HCCL served 2,767 individuals between 2023 and 2024.

The Hispanic Chamber has over 847 members.

We held our first event in the Shreveport area and connected with the Hispanic community there.

Latino-owned businesses receive less than 2% of the available Venture Capital funding in the U.S.

Since January 2023, the HCCL has hosted 14 signature events, with a total of 7,235 attendees.

In 2023, the HCCL provided the local community with over 157 workshops, seminars & networking opportunities.

Latino/a immigrants own 52% of Latino/a employer firms, compared to 7% for Whites. They face steeper barriers but show strong generational growth and sector diversification.

Latinas own 104,000 employer businesses, making up 27% of all Latino/a-owned employer firms, compared to 21% for White women.

Latino/a immigrants make up 32% of the nearly 64 million Latinos/as in the U.S., with immigrants comprising 14% of the total U.S. population.

In January 2024, we launched our first second-stage business program, the Hispanic BIZ Force Program, with 52 business owners subscribed.

The Hispanic Chamber of Commerce has strengthened ties with Spain, Honduras, Mexico, Chile and Colombia.

In partnership with Asociación Cultural Héroes de Cavite, we launched the “Las Raíces Hispanas de los Estados Unidos” magazine to promote Hispanic heritage and contributions.

Latino/a-owned tech businesses outperform White-owned ones in revenue growth and AI adoption but face liquidity and financing challenges. Their resilience promises a bright future.

Latino/a-owned businesses contribute over $800 billion annually, with 463,000 employer firms generating $664 billion and employing 3.5 million workers.
