RUSTON, LA (AP) — Louisiana Tech University will discontinue a fee paid only by full-time, female students that caused a student to file a Title IX complaint with the U.S. Department of Justice and U.S. Department of Education.
Dave Guerin, executive director of university communications, says the university will restructure its fees. In a statement Wednesday, he says the university had not yet seen the complaint regarding the Association for Women Students fee. But, he adds, they are actively reviewing the assessment with the intent to discontinue it, effective this upcoming fall quarter.
The student who lodged the complaint, Nick Smith, tells The News-Star’s Kaleb Causey he was glad to hear that the university would remove the fee.
