Louisiana Seafood Festival Had 56,000 Visitors

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Organizers of the annual Louisiana Seafood Festival in New Orleans estimated its Labor Day weekend crowds at over 56,000.

The free-admission festival features food booths selling seafood delicacies from numerous New Orleans restaurants and live music.

As an example of the success, organizers say Drago's (DRAH'-goh's) Seafood Restaurant served over 40,000 charbroiled oysters at the festival.

Organizers said it was the festival's largest attendance figure, despite blistering early September heat at New Orleans City Park. The Louisiana Hospitality Foundation, which produces the festival, said the event will return to City Park next year, running Sept. 2-4.
