NEW ORLEANS (AP) — The airports serving New Orleans and the Acadiana region are getting millions of dollars in federal grant funding.
Louisiana's U.S. senators announced on Thursday that the Federal Aviation Administration is awarding $21 million to the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport and more than $2 million is going to the Acadiana Regional Airport in New Iberia.
U.S. Sens. David Vitter and Bill Cassidy say $15 million will be used to upgrade the airport in New Orleans, which is undergoing modernization work. The money will go toward an apron construction project. The airport will also receive $6.6 million for construction to support the relocated terminal complex.
The $2 million for the Acadiana Regional Airport will fund work on the 8,000 feet of runway there.
