Local Law Firm Donates $4K To New Orleans College Prep To Fund Upcoming College Tours

NEW ORLEANS – Earlier this month, Barrasso Usdin Kupperman Freeman & Saver, L.L.C. law firm donated $4,000 to the New Orleans College Prep (NOCP) school network to ensure that students are able to participate in local and out-of-state college campus tours.

“With recent cuts to education due to our state’s budget crisis, we knew that it was imperative for us to step up and assist this great charter network,” said Joshua Cox, Associate at Barrasso Usdin and board member and former teacher of the New Orleans College Prep network. “We have partnered with NOCP in the past and it was only natural for us to do so again.”

Every spring, NOCP students between 5th and 12th grade take local and out-of-state college trips to multiple colleges and universities across the U.S. including Spelman College, Morehouse College, Louisiana State University, Tulane University, Loyola University New Orleans, Northwestern State University, the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and more to speak with admissions counselors, tour dormitories and get a first hand experience of what college life is like.

“Giving our scholars the opportunity to tour college campuses is extremely important,” said Ben Kleban, CEO of NOCP. “We want our scholars to experience first hand what their college life could be like at different universities. We are so grateful to the Barrasso Usdin law firm for assisting us in providing such a great experience to our students.”

Barrasso Usdin has participated in a range of philanthropic causes throughout New Orleans including building and sponsoring a home in The Habitat Musicians’ Village in the Ninth Ward. In addition, for the past seven years, the firm has supported Teach For America and has supported multiple schools in the New Orleans community.

New Orleans College Prep (NOCP) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that operates a network of public schools serving students in PreK through 12th grade in Orleans Parish including Walter L. Cohen College Prep, Lawrence D. Crocker College Prep, Sylvanie Williams College Prep, and John W. Hoffman College Prep.
