NEW ORLEANS – Decorating your home for the holidays is serious business in New Orleans. Bonnie Warren’s latest book “New Orleans Homes at Christmas,” celebrates the Herculean undertaking and the visual joys it brings.
Local author, and Biz New Orleans contributor, Warren will discuss the festive topic and sign copies of “New Orleans Homes at Christmas” today, Wednesday, December 10, at Tubby & Coo’s Mid-City Book Shop, 631 N. Carrollton Ave., New Orleans, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
“There is no other city that knows as well as New Orleans how to celebrate a festival or a holiday,” Carol Flake, fellow author and a founding editor of “Vanity Fair,” said. “Bonnie Warren and Cheryl Gerber have captured perfectly the unique celebratory spirit of New Orleans that adorns the city’s homes during Christmas with creativity, whimsy, and, yes, a certain splendor. Food, décor, and ceremony are on display in this beautiful book.”
Decorations including garlands, mantels, table settings, and Christmas trees, deck the pages. Photography by Biz New Orleans contributor Cheryl Gerber portrays public events such as Celebration in the Oaks and caroling in historic Jackson Square. Private and historic homes from Uptown to English Turn open their doors to readers, while residents and designers discuss their holiday embellishments and themes. The book shares glimpse parties, family celebrations, recipes and details about the magical season.
