Lighthouse Louisiana To Cut Ribbon On New Paper Towel Machine

​State Funds Invested in Creating New Jobs For People Who Are Blind

NEW ORLEANS – A ribbon-cutting for the new state-funded paper towel manufacturing machine will take place on March 2.

The Lighthouse is the only single-folded paper towel manufacturer in Louisiana and will create eight to 10 new jobs for people who are blind.

The new machine will generate an additional $2 million in revenue and effectively double the lighthouse’s capacity to produce paper towels.

Elected officials set to attend the ribbon-cutting include representative Neil Abramson, Senator JP Morrell and Senator Appel have been instrumental in securing funds through a state capital outlay budget to create jobs for people who are blind.

Other officials expected at the ribbon-cutting include New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu, Mayor-elect Latoya Contrell, city council members and state representatives. The even will be held from 8:45 – 9:30 a.m. at 123 State St. in New Orleans.
