“The Geography of Innovation: The BioMedical District-The Premise and The Promise” will focus on the development of the BioMedical District of New Orleans as an Innovation District and the tools that can be leveraged to ensure prosperity and equitable development.
The Honorable LaToya Cantrell, Mayor of New Orleans, will welcome the conference’s attendees. Bruce Katz, an internationally known specialist on economic development in cities, will be the keynote speaker.
Katz is a former vice president and co-director of the Metropolitan Policy Program at The Brookings Institution. He was The Brookings Institution’s first-ever Centennial Scholar. As co-founder of the New Localism Advisors, Katz advises metropolitan, national, and global leaders from the government, business, and civic sectors on public reforms and private innovations that advance the competitiveness of metropolitan areas.
