NEW ORLEANS – LCMC Health has announced that its podcast, Beyond Extraordinary, is returning for its second year, with a new schedule. Episodes will now be released on the second Tuesday of every month. The focus of the podcast is specialty care and innovation at LCMC Health.
Also returning are the two LCMC co-hosts, Dr. Toni Flowers, Corporate Chief Opportunity & Social Responsibility Officer, and Kristen Gradney, Chief Wellness Officer and Corporate Vice President of Total Rewards.
For this year’s first episode, Dr. Flowers sat down with Dr. Jeffrey Elder, Chief Medical Officer of University Medical Center New Orleans (UMC), to discuss how LCMC Health prepares for the Carnival season and the influx of people it brings to the city.
As the region’s only Level I Trauma Center and Verified Burn Center, UMC and its staff are uniquely equipped to handle any incident or emergency. Many of the LCMC Health hospitals are located either on or directly adjacent to parade routes in New Orleans and the surrounding parishes.
This January podcast also covers LCMC Health’s partnerships with local municipalities and emergency medical services to operate first aid stations along the parade routes to ensure celebrants’ safety and health.
